The story behind my leatherbound pens...
It started with a lightbulb moment one evening whilst thinking about my husbands hand-turned wooden pens. I wondered if it was possible to use leather instead of wood. Before attempting to make one, I first did some research to see if leather bound pens were readily available, but I soon found that they were hard to find! There a few manufacturers of mass produced cheap bonded leather pens, but more importantly, handbound real leather pens were as rare as hens teeth!!
At first, the concept of making a leather bound pen seemed like a simple process, but I soon found out that there was actually a lot of work involved to get them to look spot on!
The other motivator for me to make these work was that I already made leather notebook and journal covers so it was really nice to also offer matching leatherbound pens to go with them!
A truly unique item!
